What is a VVT Sprocket?

A variable valve timing (VVT) sprocket is a gear component mounted on the engine camshaft. 

The working principle of the VVT sprocket is to adjust the amount of intake (exhaust) and the valve opening and closing time and angle by adjusting the camshaft rotation angle.

At low engine speeds (RPM), the VVT sprocket advances the timing to improve engine response and reduce fuel consumption.

At high engine speeds, it retards the timing to provide better power and prevent engine knock.
