Powder Metallurgy Compacting

Compaction in powder metallurgy is the process of pressing metal powders in a die with punches to form a dense “green compact.” It consists of filling, pressing, demolding, and ejecting the compact. Our compaction presses are highly automated with robotic arms. We operate powder compaction presses from 25 to 1,000 tons. They can produce parts with diameters between 5 mm and 300 mm.

Powder Metallurgy Sintering

Sintering process heats compacted metal powders to a temperature just below their melting point so the particles bond together, increasing strength, density, and structural integrity. The cycle generally includes preheating, main sintering, and controlled cooling, which promote diffusion and densification. Our fully automated continuous sintering furnaces are designed for high throughput, with each unit capable of processing 3 tons of parts per cycle.

Powder Metallurgy Sizing

Sizing improves the dimensional accuracy of sintered parts through secondary pressing. It also enhances the surface finish of sintered parts and seals the surface porosity of sintered bushings. Our fully automated sizing equipment places the finished parts directly into blister trays. This reduces cost and increases production efficiency.

Powder Metallurgy CMM Inspection

CMM inspection validates critical dimensions and geometric tolerances with micrometer-level precision, confirming conformance to CAD models and drawing specifications. At BLUE, we employ CMM measurement for dimensional stability, form and position analysis, and repeatable quality assurance.

Powder Metallurgy Vibration Finishing

At BLUE, we apply vibration finishing to deburr powder metal parts and refine their surface texture. The process produces smoother contact areas, reduces friction in operation, and enhances dimensional consistency. It also conditions surfaces for subsequent plating, coating, or precision assembly.

Powder Metallurgy Sandblasting

Sandblasting cleans and smooths powder metal parts after sintering, removing oxides and residues for a uniform surface. In this process, abrasive media are propelled by compressed air against the part surface, refining texture and preparing it for coatings or plating. This treatment improves adhesion, wear behavior, and overall surface quality.

Powder Metallurgy Vision Inspection

We apply vision inspection to evaluate every powder metal part with high resolution. The system measures gear profiles and dimensional features with micron-level accuracy. It instantly detects surface defects such as cracks, burrs, or missing teeth, guaranteeing consistent quality in mass production.

Powder Metallurgy Mixing

Mixing in powder metallurgy is the process of uniformly combining base powders, alloying elements, and lubricants to control the properties of the final parts. It improves powder flow, reduces friction during compaction, and distributes additives evenly to enhance performance.
